Recent studies from University of Southern California and University of Sydney have found that people who were used to high protein diet especially animal protein has high risk of cancer, diabetes and reduced life span. The effect is much reduced when the protein comes from plant sources.
They have also found that food which are low in protein and high in carbohydrates helps to maintain healthier and longer life span. This problem occurs mainly till middle age. However old-age people (above 65) can make use of moderate protein in their diet where the effect is nearly opposite. Proteins help old age people by 60% reduced risk of dying from cancer.
Some of the foods that are high in carbohydrates, low in protein and low in fat includes grain products such as rice, pasta, bread, oatmeal and some cereals.
